In this scene, Blofeld masquerades as Balthazar, Count de Bleuchamp. Blofeld’s deception also conjures Crowley’s belief that he was a magical charlatan.

- Thunderball (1965). Although too far removed in time, this one is a humdinger nevertheless. At a meeting of the Illuminati-like SPECTRE, its chieftain, Ernst Stavro Blofeld (Anthony Dawson, 1916-1992), aka Number One, requests financial reports from its members. He accuses Numbers Nine and Eleven, who sit next to each other, of being in cahoots, committing malfeasance, and dismayed by their disloyalty. That is, embezzling profits from the sale of Red China narcotics in the United States, presaging America’s Southern Border and related fentanyl crisis. In the end, Blofeld electrocutes Number Nine, and his chair drops beneath the floor, where his corpse disappears forever.
