(Left) The theatrical and television versions of The Wizard of Oz featured the suicide of one of the Munchkins, who disturbingly hanged himself on the set, seen dangling in the background when the trio dances down the Yellow Brick Road, leaving the Tin Man’s cottage. (Right) However, the DVD, Blu-ray, and recent TV versions have removed the little person’s death and digitally replaced it with a stork (one appears in the novel), or this could also be an alternative take. This is one of many tragedies that plagued Oz’s productions.
